Hungarian intern by Europe Direct North East
My name is Ildiko Negyesi I came from Hungary, Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County. I am by Durham County Hall with Grundtvig assistant scholarship for about 18 weeks.
I graduated on University of Debrecen as a cultural manager, but my specialization was adult education.
My sending institution: Aba-Novák Kulturális Központ (Aba-Novák Cultural Centre ~ ANKK), Szolnok.
I am studying the mid-term and yearly strategy making, management and working of English institutions and civil associations acting in the field of adult education. I am also searching possibilities of cooperation/twinning relations among LLL institutions, organisations based on the twinning links between County Durham and Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County.
I also take part by the daily work of International Relations which is very interesting.
I choose Durham to make my scholarship because Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County and Durham County Council are in partnership. I also heard a lot of good things about Durham. Durham is a beautiful place with big cultural life and the adult education is also very well.
I am here for 1 month and I like it. I took part by a lot of interesting programmes.
On my first week I had the pleasure to meet a group of German people from Derwentside’s partner town of Werdohl. I visited the travellers also which was very interesting.
Finally I think I have friends. I met last week with two German lady in Newcastle. They are here with Erasmus and Leonardo scholarship.
On Saturday arrived a teacher from Sri Lanka. She’s living in Durham so we can spend some time together.
England is a little different as Hungary. In Hungary the winter is very cold and the summer is much warmer. We have sweet fruits (strawberry, cherry, apricot, peach, grapes, melon, pear etc.) We eat a lot of foods with paprika and our foods are spicy.
I miss the warm weather and the ice cream, but the english cakes are also very good.
The landscape is very beautiful and I think in England there are a lot of possiblity to make journeys. In Hungary there are less castle and old buildings as in England. I like history so I am very happy that I can watch a lot of historical places.
