European Question Time
Thursday 6 March 6.30p.m.
Ustinov Room, Van Mildert College, Durham
Ever wondered what a MEP actually does ? How will your vote at the European Parliamentary elections give you a voice on the EU stage ? How does the European Parliament work and is it worth the money it costs to run ?
These and more questions can be answered at special event hosted by Principal, Professor David Harper and open to all members of the college and wider university community.
Stephen Hughes MEP, Fiona Hall MEP, Dr Christian Schweiger and Cllr Thomas Nearney will introduce the role of the European institutions and help answer your questions about the Parliamentary elections which will be held on Thursday 22 May 2014.
This is not a party political campaigning event but an information session; particularly targeted at first time voters who want to try to make better sense of the European political systems.
Refreshments will be served afterwards in the Lakeside Room.
Places are limited and admission will be ticketed. To reserve a place, please email Europe.direct@durham.gov.uk
The event is supported by the European Commission and the European Parliament Office in the UK and managed by Europe Direct.
