Forty countries will compete in this year’s Eurovision song contest in Vienna in Austria on 23 May.
In a precursor to the event in Austria, 27 primary schools from North East England will battle it out to be crowned this year’s Song for Europe winner.
Each of the Y4 teams will be performing their song in a language other than English. Last year’s winners, Escomb Primary School, will be back to defend the title when they stole the competition with a rendition of ” Stand by me” in Lithuanian. This year, we can look forward to listening to ” Let it go ! ” in French, “Komm, Gib Mir Deine Hand” and “Chocolate Molinillo”.
The competition takes place at the Gala Theatre in Durham City on Wednesday 6th May.
