To mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee, 300 pupils from seven County Durham schools had intensive rehearsals with performers from across the Commonwealth. Their talents were showcased at a fantastic concert in Durham on 14 June; attended by 800 guests among them our Lord-Lieutenant, High Sheriff, Chair of County Council, Mayor and dignitaries from across the region.
The children learned how to perform Kutchipudi and Bollywood dance, play djembe drums and mastered steel pans as well as singing with the famous Voices of Virtue Gospel Choir.
Our cultural partners at GemArts organised the workshops and arranged for the wonderful professional artists to perform alongside our children. It was an incredible way to celebrate Her Majesty’s links with the commonwealth and a terrific Right Royal Do!
