Thirteen groups of pupils from seven North East schools took up the challenge to create a compelling pitch to have Bishop Auckland included on a tourist itinerary of the UK for Spanish visitors.
The teams had to undertake reading, writing and listening challenges before pitching to the panel of judges ; Dr Johnson from Durham University and Prof Santiago Fouz-Hernandez, Hon Vice Consul for Spain.
Throughout the day, the teams were supported by Language Ambassadors from Durham University; all undergraduates in the Spanish department.
The day was made possible thanks to the tremendous support of The Auckland Project.
The winning team came from St John’s RC Comprehensive and Sixth Form in Bishop Auckland.
