
The Durham Global Alliance was formally launched on Saturday 16 October at a special reception for international students in Durham Town Hall.
Speakers included; The Right Worshipful Mayor of the City of Durham, Chairman of Durham County Council, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Global) and the British Council’s Head of Internationalisation. Together with council leader, Amanda Hopgood, they signed a pledge to support and encourage international connections for all young people aged 4 – 30.
They were joined by young people from Crook Primary School, Belmont School, New College Durham, Durham University as well as representatives of Durham Youth Council.
The Alliance is working to develop a range of activities for young people in County Durham and to build on existing relationships between educational, cultural, sporting and business organisations.
