Interfaith

We live in a continent which is rich in diversity. Next week there is opportunity to discover the many faiths and beliefs which exist in our communities during Interfaith Week.

Yesterday (8 November), at County Hall, 100 children from 10 schools in our region came to explore six faiths and trace how light is used as a metaphor for celebration, birth and renewal in each. The children followed a rich programme which allowed them to meet community representatives from Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Islamic, Jewish and Sikh communities in the North east of England. They ended the day with a South Asian themed  series of workshops to mark Diwali.
